Ronald E. Nielsen


Ron Nielsen is a highly accomplished Entrepreneur, Chief Executive, and Advisor with 25 years of success within the insurance and construction industries. He leverages extensive management and Board of Directors advisory experience with a proven record of leading business development, organizational strategy, process improvement and market expansion initiatives. He is passionate about using his insight to advise companies of any size or stage, public or private, domestic or international. His broad areas of expertise include marketing, regulatory compliance, asset management, budgeting, fundraising, M&A, finance, P&L, sales channel development, working with national distributors, sales strategies, operations, and product life-cycle.

Ron currently serves as Founder, President, and CEO of Utah Business Insurance Company, Inc., where he promotes safe working environments, provides industry-leading medical care for employees and reduces the overall impact of workers’ compensation costs to policyholders’ bottom line. He launched the company after experiencing firsthand the need for high-quality workers’ comp insurance providers during a fraudulent insurance claim situation earlier in his career as President of A Good Brick Mason. The experience motivated him to start Utah Business Insurance Company, and under his leadership, the organization has grown to become Utah’s 3rd largest provider of workers’ compensation insurance. The company is currently expanding nationally and is widely recognized as an industry leader. Ron directs all contract negotiations regarding reinsurance, capital, and fronting agreements for the organization.

Prior to his success with Utah Business Insurance Company, Ron was the Founder and President of A Good Brick Mason, Inc. from 1992 to 2012. He launched the company and grew the business to become one of the largest residential and commercial masonry companies in Utah. It was during this time that Ron was the first person to be recognized as “Associate of the Year” for six years by Utah Valley Home Builders Association.

In addition to his executive career, Ron has been an active Board appointee. He is currently the Chairman of the Board for Utah Business Insurance Company Inc., Board Member and Treasurer for the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, Board Member for TechnaGlass Inc., Board Member for Junior Achievement of Utah, and Board Member & Chair of the Audit Committee for United Insurance Group Inc. He is also a former Board Member of Mali Rising Foundation, and former Chapter President, Forum Moderator Chair and Board Member for Entrepreneurs’ Organization of Utah.

As a thought leader, Ron has spent years advising various organizations, including other companies in the insurance and construction industries on the topics of business development, corporate strategy, regulatory compliance and market expansion. He has also been featured by major publications including Octane Magazine. In 2008, Ron was a Speaker at the Corporate Alliance’s “Executive Pools Summit.” 

Dave Oakden

Dave Oakden is the President and Operations Manager for S&C Claims Services, a multi-state workers compensation third party administrator (TPA). Dave has more than 25 years of workers compensation claims and medical case management experience while managing claims in Nevada, California, New Mexico and Utah. He has been a claims manager for several insurers prior to joining S&C Claims Services in 2001, when he became a partner in the company. In addition to his administrative duties Dave has conducted numerous claims classes and seminars for various organizations on early intervention and claims management. He also developed claims management curriculum for the Insurance Education Association's certification and other industry related courses.

Dave's focus has always been to provide the best medical services to the injured workers in a cost-effective manner for the employers. In addition to claims management experience, Dave developed and managed one of the original managed care organizations in Nevada for workers compensation. Recently Dave worked to develop a Medical Provider Network (MPN) for California clients and is presently developing the Utah provider network, for the treatment of injured workers.
