Ronald E. Nielsen
Chairman/President/CEO
Ron Nielsen is President to A Good Brick Mason, Inc. He has been in the construction trade for 22 years he started as a
hod tender and moved up to a mason after several years of training. He has been in business since August of 1993 and has
grown to over 50 employees.
Ron is an avid supporter of the Utah Valley Homebuilders Association where he has served as Trades Contractor Vice President
as well as Associate Vice President. Ron has received Associate of the year for 6 years (never accomplished before).
He has served on the Executive Committee and is currently on the Board of Directors. Ron also serves on the State Board
of Directors for the Homebuilders Association of Utah.
Ron also serves on the on the Board of Directors for the Utah Masonry Council and has been elected as second Vice President
for that association.
J. Bradley Simons
CFO
Brad Simons began working for his father’s homebuilding company when he was twelve. In 1983 Brad left the family company and
joined a small Utah homebuilder: Woodside Homes. Brad worked as a superintendent, salesman, area manager and finally
President of Woodside Homes. During his time at Woodside the company expanded throughout the Country. Brad Served as
President of Woodside Homes for seven years and as a member of the board of directors of Woodside Group, Woodside’s parent
company.
After leaving Woodside and the challenges of building 300 homes a year and responsibilities with the parent company building
over 2000 homes a year, Brad returned to his Father’s custom home building company Cottage Homes. Brad has been invited to
teach seminars at Brigham Young University, Snow College, Utah Valley State College, and the Utah Home Builders Convention.
Brad spends much of his free time working with the Boy Scouts of American and teaching youth religious classes.
Steve Pfeiffer
Vice President Business Development
Steven Pfeiffer,CPCU, ARM, CRM has 30 years experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry. He is the President
of Pfeiffer Consulting Group, a consulting firm focusing on assisting customers with insurance needs, including insurance company
formation and management, alternative risk programs,and risk management issues. He has assisted in establishing several insurance
carriers, and self-insured groups. He was instrumental in assisting the founders of UBIC formalize and ultimately execute the
business plan leading to its formation.
Steven was the Vice President of Underwriting at WCF from 1997–2001, and prior to that Vice President of Risk Management
at Fred A. Moreton and Company, a regional insurance brokerage. He also worked for other insurers in a variety of management
capacities.
Steven is a CPCU, CRM, and CIC. He is past president of the Utah chapter of CPCU (1996-97).
Steven F. Caldwell
Steve has been with Whitewater for 12 years as Vice President over Sales. Steve has helped take that company from 90 employees
to over 200 . He has also increased sales from $5 million to $21 million per year.
Steve has been a member of Utah Valley Home Builders Association for over 30 years. He has served on the Board of Directors 3
times, has been the Chairman over the Parade of Homes Committee and served on many other committees in both Salt Lake City
and Utah Valley Home Builders Association. Before he was with Whitewater he worked for Linford Brothers Glass, where he
started at the order desk then went to salesman eventually took over the Utah sales branch. From there he moved up as
the sales manager for the entire company.
Dave Oakden
Dave Oakden is the President and Operations Manager for S&C Claims Services a multi-state workers compensation third party
administrator (TPA). Dave has more than 25 years of workers compensation claims and medical case management experience while
managing claims in Nevada, California, New Mexico and Utah. He has been a claims manager for several insurers prior to joining
S&C Claims Services in 2001, when he became a partner in the company. In addition to his administrative duties Dave has
conducted numerous claims classes and seminars for various organizations on early intervention and claims management.
He also developed claims management curriculum for the Insurance Education Association's certification and other industry
related courses.
Dave's focus has always been to provide the best medical services to the injured workers in a cost effective manner for the
employers. In addition to the claims management experience, Dave developed and managed one of the original managed care
organizations in Nevada for workers compensation. Recently Dave worked to develop a Medical Provider Network (MPN) for
California clients and is presently developing the Utah provider network, for the treatment of injured workers.
